'Poppy in Glaze'

I took a 12"x12" block canvas,used 'art masking fluid' to draw the outlines of the poppy. Then painted from the centre outwards ever decreasing circles of various colours that i had already associated with my 'poppy' pictures. Deep red centre, through the red range to orange and finally yellow. Then peeled the art masking fluid off the canvas & finally put detailed leaves and shading.

The result is very pleasing,bold vibrant block of colour.

'Tweed runs through'

I instantly saw this painting when i looked at the viaduct transversing the river Tweed near Berwick. It straight away created its own frame, the viaduct, with the distant clouds and the river beyond.

Its acrylic on a 12"x9" canvas block.

'Old & the New'
These are home grown poppies that ive painted on a 16"x12" canvas board.

I took several shots of the poppies and built this painting from two photos, still not sure if it works as one. The red & green really look good against the silver of the background.

'goth gentleman in whitby'

Whitby goth weekends are quite an eyeful for painters and photographers. You just dont know where to look.

This elegant gent was just stood smoking his pipe. Quite serene amongst the rush & the push of everything going on around him.

Painting on a 16"x12" canvas board. I just swept up the board with a purple and added detail in blacks and other colours.

'Sunset over industry'

Almost sunset over boulby pothash, from
staithes.
Black paper on which i drew four layers.
Foreground , just minor lines on the black paper.
grey midway shading ahead of white chalk buildings.
All topped by pastel lines creating the sunset.

The Cows posed nicely for me for about 10mins it took to sketch them.
My Audi drew itself, set in the snow up on the Yorkshire moors at Blakey Ridge.

This guy was looking out from a wall up in Edinburgh, taking by a friend, it just lent itself to me testing out my black paper & chalk theme.
The likkle doggy is 'Benson', hes a friends 'miniture schnauzer', his enquiring look just had to be put onto canvas.

'High Force'

My fav painting, actually came from a friends phone photograph ,that he asked if i would do him a painting of. It was my first big go at using acrylics on a large cannvas board. Took me 2 weeks and i use a palatte knife almost totally throughout the painting.
He has it hanging in his room at home, so he says. Better had, ..lol..i want it back:'(
